Take A Look At the Idaho Power Pricing Structure

New Summer and Winter Rates for Solar Export (to the grid):
-
Summer: June 1st to September 30th
-
On-Peak (3pm-11pm): 16.9966 cents per kWh
-
Off-Peak (11:01pm-2:59pm): 5.6533 cents per kWh
-
Non-Summer: October 1st to May 31st
-
Non-Summer rate: 4.8365 cents per kWh
Adjusted Tiered Consumption Rates:
-
Your consumption rate will now depend on which of the three tiers you fall under, and these rates will vary in both summer and non-summer periods.
-
Batteries will be a very helpful addition to maximize your solar production
The changes in the rate structure have important implications for your financials and overall energy management. For example, winter bills may now be part of your experience, especially if your solar system was designed for a 100% utility offset.
Particularly for the off-peak hours during winter months, it is more beneficial to consume your solar power directly, not giving it to the grid. Doing so will allow you to maximize the financial benefit of your solar production. On the flip side, if you send back excess energy during these non-summer periods, the lower rates may not cover your consumption as effectively.
We encourage you to review your usage patterns and system orientation to best align them with these new rate structures. You may find that with a small shift in energy habits, such as doing more tasks during peak sun hours, you can optimize your energy use and savings potential.
